Open House at Gilmont April 25, 2010, following KidQuake. RSVP for lunch plans please. See the camp, meet some staff people, and share in the fun! The theme for Grace Camps 2010 Being a Hero, Living Like Jesus will engage campers in Christian Hero experiences, living in community, and serving others. The leadership team is hard at work at this time to build a wonderful experience for young people throughout the Presbytery. James Hilliard, Assistant Manager at Camp Gilmont and Emily Fultz, a veteran summer camp leader - including former director, will be serving this summer as Co-Directors for Summer Camp. You are invited to email James at jvhill27@aol.com with your questions and ideas. In mid-March, James met with 4 of the veteran counselors to discuss ways to continue improving our camps. In his words, “our counselor team this summer is going to be amazing! These young people are capable of so much. At this time we are sharing ideas about building specialty camp activities, addressing suggestions from the past and just generally working to make camp better.” All weeks of summer camp will be held at Gilmont this year - in the East Texas piney woods. Camps are for ages 6-16. New this year: Eco Action Camp, where campers learn about God’s creation and engage in activities like gardening, animal tracking (with a Texas Parks and Wildlife specialist) and aquatic biology. The other specialty camp is Caped Crusaders, formerly, MAD Camp (Music, Art and Drama). Grace Camps 2010 are scheduled for young people from ages 6, through 16. Check out the website at www.gracepresybery.org (click on HELPING CONGREGATIONS, the Summer Camp section includes information about the weeks of camp, registration materials and scholarship forms, and much more!). Call Gilmont (903)797-6400 or Grace Presbytery (800) 678-4502 or (214) 630-4502. |
